Fast Facts

Help Me Grow Island County

What is Help Me Grow Island County?
Short answer: It’s a local initiative to make it easier for Island County families with young children—as well as parents who are expecting—to search, find, and access—both online and over the phone— the network of resources that are nearby, based on their needs.

Help Me Grow (HMG) is a no-cost service available to all families in Washington State. Whether pregnant, a caregiver with a baby, or a family with young children through age five, Help Me Grow is designed to be a link to valuable and trusted resources. From questions about child development or behaviors to connecting to services or resources, HMG works with parents and caregivers to help them get what they need.

HMG Island County is a local chapter of the Washington State Help Me Grow system. We work together and share resources. Locally, Island County’s focus is on building trust and human connection in our network of local resources. In doing so, we aim to foster an environment where all families can thrive. Whidbey Community Foundation and Island County Public Health are the lead agencies with support and engagement of a coalition of organizations throughout Island County.

When will it be available?
Short answer: In Fall 2024. Although anyone can access the online system now, Island County resources are not fully populated in the Help Me Grow Resource Directory, so we’re not promoting it widely yet. In the meantime, there are a number of local organizations that are very familiar with local resources and can make recommendations and referrals. You’ll find them here: Resource Directory | Help Me Grow - Island County
